Egypt Diesel crisis 22/3/2012



No diesel in Egypt for over 3 days as public discontent grows, and government promises to solve the situation are vanishing into thin air.

Drivers and workers have been complaining about solar shortage all over Egypt for the past 3 days. Some say there in none at all except at the Watanya stations owned by the Egyptian military.

Ahmed, a microbus driver kept looking for diesel for over a week and finally fueled up at the Watanya gas station at al Hy Al Asher.

“I have been looking for Diesel for my vehicle for about a week now. Yesterday I started to look for Diesel since 5 AM, and there was none, I stayed at a gas station in Gesr Al Suez till 2 AM, and as Vehicles cramped to fuel up there was not enough Diesel.” Ahmed said.

Several fights over Diesel took place among drivers in many major gas stations in Nasr City, Gesr Al Suez, and the ring road.

Many drivers showed extreme discontent because of the continuous fuel problems amongst gas station all over Egypt. Transportation all across Egypt is paralyzed by the crisis amidst assurances by government officials that it Is being dealt with.
